This year's theme, "Dreams," served as the backdrop for diverse artistic expressions inspired by dreams, presented on 18 by 18-centimetre MDF boards. The exhibition, curated by Mieke Oldenburg, featured a selection of works by established and emerging artists, showcasing a wide range of mediums and styles.
The event reached its climax with the awards ceremony, where Hollard and Kulungwana had the privilege of recognising and celebrating the remarkable achievements of artists who made significant contributions to the artistic community in 2024.
"We recognise the profound impact that art has on our lives, our communities, and our culture. By providing artists with resources, means for exposure, and growth opportunities, Hollard nurtures creativity and innovation, enriching the artistic landscape in Mozambique," stated Henri Mittermayer, CEO of Hollard Mozambique.
Three winners of the "Better Futures" Award, promoted by Hollard Insurance, were announced at the event, namely, artists Ouri Pota, Cláudio Polá, and Sakitifa. They were selected from over 100 artists from different provinces based on their interpretation of the theme and technical execution, evaluated by a panel of art experts.
The CEO of Hollard further said, "The art exhibition and awards ceremony provide a platform to showcase the incredible talent of Mozambican artists and underline our commitment to supporting the arts and culture in the community where we operate."
In turn, the Director of the National Institute of Cultural and Creative Industries, Ivan Bond, congratulated the Kulungwana Association, the Norwegian Embassy, and Hollard for the impetus and continued effort in making art accessible through this initiative.
This initiative, supported by Hollard Mozambique's long-standing commitment, marks a significant milestone in promoting and celebrating the artistic talents of young Mozambican creators.
Since 2020, Hollard Mozambique has been promoting the award, integrated into the 'Better Futures' purpose, reinforcing its dedication to promoting a thriving artistic community.
